Roadbook Round 2 - Sanremo

So the wine in Tuscany is was so good the organisers dozed off and almost forgot there was a rally to attend to. How would you react yourself if you were forced on a 2 month break in Italy? For those traveling between stage 11 and stage 12, take a pitstop in San Gimignano. Specifically at Gelateria Dondoli to enjoy some quality ice cream (or gelato if we don't want to offend the Italians again). From experience I can say it's the best gelato I've ever had. The nice little village around the shop was a nice plus. Anyway, this little tangent literally served no purpose but to distract from what you're all here for: the Rallye Sanremo roadbook! >>> LINK TO RALLY <<< >>> GOOGLE SHEETS VERSION <<<

Changes in the calendar

We have received clearance from local authorities in San Remo to start the rally, but only after we assured them we wouldn't involve pineapples with any other food from their local cuisine. That being said, we'd like to give an update on the schedule for San Remo and the other rallies this season. San Remo will be delayed until the Three Samurais' original date. Three Samurais will be postponed to the original Rally Saturnus date and so on for the other rallies. For London-Mexico this means we'll have a new date in 2025. The exact dates can be found in the updated calendar . You can find the stages for Sanremo here. We decided to postpone all rallies because we want to allow other championships on RSF to hold their postponed rallies, so there at least isn't one big rally from SRM overlapping with those rallies. We hope this will reduce the load on the schedule for drivers that participate in multiple championships. Further questions can be asked in #srm-discussion

Sanremo postponed

Hello! As those of you on our Discord server will have undoubtedly noticed, we have decided to postpone Sanremo Rally until further notice. While lore-friendly explanations involving pineapples are all fun and dandy, the real reason is something further outside our control. Since the latest RSF update, a severe bug was discovered. Known as "timing bug", it alters the speed in which the simulation runs vs. actual clock. While RSF team is working on an update, the timetable is up in the air. Rest assured, the entire team is doing their best to resolve the situation as soon as possible. In the meantime, we had no real alternative but to delay the event. We know a lot of you have looked forward to the rally, and some of you have planned your intensive real-life schedules in order to participate in this event. For that we can only apologise. However, the nature of the bug is one which severely affects anyone who happens to fall victim to it, and while the possibility of a technica

Stage list Round 2 - Sanremo

Hey everyone! Puhis had the roadbook duties for our opening round and I've got the honor for this upcoming rally that happens to be one of my favorites, the Sanremo Rally. Unlike Puhis, I've managed to control my sadistic side when making the rally roadbook. I used the 1995 Rally Sanremo loosely as base for the event, therefore this is one of the shortest (and most likely one of the most pleasant) SRM events to date. I think we're all more than happy for an easier recce duty this time. Enjoy! A message from Pep from the SRM community, who created something amazing: Hi, it's Pep! I'm not great at announcements. Joining SRM'23 was... a really unique experience. I didn't do well, sure, but I've enjoyed every bit of being around.  The best part of SRM for me was the experience itself; the atmosphere of it all, and the memories it gave me. I wanted to hang on those memories and share them, and I wanted to give back to this amazing community. So this is my gift back to SRM, the great people that organized it and made it real, and the contestants that made the experience extra real. <3 Something commemorative, so everyone can have a keepsake of their time here .  You can find more of that on the SRM Discord  and support her work on Ko-fi!

Luppis' Pacenote Pack and compatible Co-Drivers

Image
Since SRM features long rallies over a lot of different stages, it might be tough for most of you to actually properly recce all of them. Thanks to Luppis you can get away with less preparation. He made pacenotes for the majority of stages that are available in RSF and most stages that are used in SRM Round 1. Note that there are two versions available. See below which co-drivers work with his pack and what version they require. Compatible Co-Drivers are  Janne Laahanen for Luppis V3 Nicky Grist for Luppis V3 Darren for Luppis V2 Janne Laahanen  for Luppis V3 Hans Juchard (KI Stimme) für  Luppis V2 Marco Piardi vor Luppis V2 There are more co-drivers available. But these are the ones where we know that they work with Luppi's Pacenote Pack. If you know more, please leave a comment underneath this post or on our Discord.

Roadbook Round 1 - Finlandia

You may notice quite a few service opportunities. It is important to note you will only be able to change tyres at the 30 minutes long services that are marked as service park. Setups can only be changed at the start of a leg. You have been warned. One last remark: there is a slight change to the ruling of the Hotlap trophy . We've allowed ourselves a bit more flexibility for immersion purposes by not limiting us to a 1 stage leg. Enjoy the rally!  PLEASE BEWARE So SRM is off to a good start since we already made a mistake Stage 4 is supposed to be RabocsiRing 2021 Rally Hungary (like mentioned in the stage list a month ago) and not the RX version. Thanks Dachsos for pointing it out. >>> PDF VERSION <<< >>> GOOGLE SHEETS VERSION <<<

Roadbook Ramblings: Chapter 4 - From Baltic to Arctic

Image
Welcome to the fourth and final chapter of Roadbook Ramblings!  Let's begin with numbers: 5 legs. 62 stages. 469.7 kilometres (291.9 miles). Those are the tangible bits; ones that matter to you, the driver. It's what you will experience from your point of view. Rest is not as important for the competition, but I've gone through the trouble so might as well share it with you lot - assuming you're still reading these. Or, if this is the first one you read, welcome! Full roadbook will be published tomorrow (Friday, 26th of January). Below is a leg-by-leg description of the route, its stops, and general nature. Sit down, grab a drink, and put a coat on - Finland's not warm!   Finlandia route map. Leg finishes also indicate overnight halts in most cases. Leg 1 (Helsinki - Veikkola) 9 stages - 31.9km/19.8 miles The rally starts, as established, in Helsinki. Namely, the official start is straight to the first stage that takes in Olympiastadion. Built for the 1952

Roadbook Ramblings: Chapter 3 - Crafting a Rally

Alternative title: Confessions. Creating a rally can be anything from a simple task to a rigorous undertaking. You slap a bunch of stages together with some services in between, split them into legs, and call it a day. People will drive it, and some will enjoy it. There will be competitors with their own goals, ranging from passing time to actually doing their best. It will be used for testing, either skills or simply a new setup. There's nothing wrong with a simple rally. They are the backbone of online racing; just sit down and drive. Of course, here in Sim Rally Masters we don't do simple. Here in SRM we take pride in our receding hairlines, stress-induced ulcers, and burnouts. You haven't lived the life of a series organiser before finding a bunch of hair on the floor each time you shower, sucked to the drain like your free time. Sounds fun, no? If the answer was "Actually yes", we do accept volunteers. Just DM us your credentials and organ donor card,

Roadbook Ramblings: Chapter 2 - A dream

Welcome back! In the first chapter, we talked the history of Finnish rallying. The topic of Hankiralli was brought up, and seemingly caught some attention too! It is an interesting tale, one which definitely deserves to be remembered. But as those of you who read through the post will remember, it wasn't exactly a fairytale. By the time late 1970's rolled around, Finnish rallying had a bit of a dilemma in its hands. Peter Geitel , editor of Vauhdin Maailma magazine proposed a solution, one which we left hanging last time. So, let's get to that, shall we?   Picture of the original editorial in VM issue 5/1991    If you're jumping off your seat and doing your best Leonardo DiCaprio impression (sans dumping your wife when she turns 25, we hope), you have probably spotted that title in central left of the picture. Yes, that's where this event gets its name from. It's a good one; might as well use it. While statistics show that only 98% (with 2% margin of error) of
